Park board imposes limited eviction moratorium, neighbors and businesses hurting
It’s a start, but not enough:
- The Minneapolis Park Board, which owns several owns homes, imposed an eviction moratorium for its properties. While that’s a start, Walz, Frey, and other Twin Cities politicians have been silent on a broader moratorium. Neighbors providing mutual aid for rent support have expressed strain on social media. Renter’s unions have recently proposed a strike to force the local government’s hand.
Businesses seek aid:
- Latino and East African business owners saw a drastic fall in income during Metro Surge. Many closed outright, preferring to stay home and shelter-in-place. Many of these businesses are local favorites.
